After reading the Foundation Learning Guide for just a few months I have decided to postpone my CCNP ROUTE exam studies to the end of this year. I have just finished reading the FLG last month and was moving to the Official Certification Guide. The reason why I moved to the OCG was because I did not score well on some practice questions. I want to be fully prepared before sitting in for the exam.
Currently, at my employer, the CCNP isn’t required. Since I have my CCNA, it has proved to be beneficial knowledge. I wouldn’t say that not acquiring my CCNP this year would be a failure but the knowledge I have learned from the ROUTE textbooks was plenty. I can put that knowledge to use, especially in OSPF.
It’s just that there are other technologies that I must focus on at the moment. One of those technologies being Microsoft’s. As you saw from my previous post, my reading list was small but the text books were large.
CCNP will still be part of my studies this year. I probably won’t be going into the textbooks but I will definitely be reviewing my notes so that my mind is refreshed.
