One thing to consider for 2012 is that I will be using and learning more VMware. I’ve always had a strong interest in virtualization, especially with VMware’s technologies. Back in 2010 I took the VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage class. I was impressed with their lab setup. Everything worked flawlessly. Even with recent moves to the virtualized desktop and BYOC. It’s amazing what you can do now with virtualization.
I’ve already began refreshing my knowledge by reading through Scott Lowe’s Mastering VMware vSphere 4. It’s full of useful information and I’m soaking in a lot. I’m planning out my lab, which will run on my Macbook Pro, using VMware Fusion. I still have my lab books from my VMware class so I will utilize those. Then I need to brush up on the new material for 4.1.
I’m actually aiming high and looking to sit in on the VCP 4 exam this month. You’ll see more VMware posts in the upcoming days.
