If you set a goal, will you reach it? If you don’t set any goals, how can you measure success? Every blogger should set a goal. It doesn’t matter how small or large the goal may be but you must shoot for something in order to get somewhere.

The new year brings on new challenges for my blog. It’s only 3 months old but it looks like my blogging has come quite a long ways. Most blogs don’t make it past the first week.

I sat down and developed a short list of blogger goals. What I want to achieve for 2009. If you’re new to blogging or haven’t set any goals for you blog, you are more than welcome to take my goals and make it your own.

Here are my blogs goals for 2009, in no particular order:

  1. Increase rss subscribers to 100
  2. Implement an email subscription service
  3. Generate 100 email subscribers
  4. Reach a total income of $300
  5. Generate 1000 visitors each day
  6. Have unique blog posts 3 days a week
  7. Convert new visitors to repeat visitors
  8. Develop a marketing strategy

Have you set any goals for 2009? I’d like to hear them and hopefully we can hold ourselves accountable to each others goals.

A blogger’s biggest challenge is overcoming the challenges blogging while working a full-time job. Here at rowelldionicio.com, I’ve developed a system that works with my schedule and has me posting blog topics efficiently.

I work in IT full-time so I know that it’s not simple to blog everyday like other probloggers but there are tips and tricks to make blogging simple and effective while working full-time.

Keep track of blog topics

Have a notepad nearby to jot down a quick blog topic you want to write about. With this method you won’t lose your idea and can blog about it when you have the time.

Delayed Publishing

Some bloggers like to write most of their week’s posts in one day and spread out the publishing times during the week. Take advantage of publishing throughout the week. You can delay a post to publish in 5 days at a specific time. It’s your preference. You’ll get more posts done without having to spend each day writing and publishing.

Brainstorm ideas

Like above, always keep a notepad or similar recording aparatus to jot down blogging ideas. Be aware of your surroundings and actions that could possibly become a potential blog topic. Use a mindmap to draw up subtopics of other blog topics. It’s a highly effective way to create blog post followings and series.

Wordpress iPhone App

Do you have an iPhone and a Wordpress blog? Download the free app from the iTunes store and write posts when you’re on-the-go, on your lunch break or in line at a store.

Utilize an RSS Aggregators

to keep track of what your fellow niche bloggers are blogging about. This is another way to generate ideas for your blogs. Are you opposing a blogger’s

Reporter vs Expert - Why Most Bloggers Are Stuck Reporting

This is an article for Blog Mastermind

Click here to watch The Conversion Blogging VideoThere are basically two types of bloggers in the world - reporters and experts - and some people perform both roles (usually the experts, it’s hard for reporters to become experts, but it’s easy for experts to report).

If you have ever taken an Internet marketing course or attended a seminar specifically for beginners, you have probably heard about the two different methodologies. Whenever the business model is based on content, and if you blog for money then the model is based on content, people are taught to either start as reporters, or if possible step up as experts.

I’ll be frank; you want to be the expert.

Reporters leverage the content of the experts and in most cases people start off as reporters because they haven’t established expertise. Experts enjoy the perks of preeminence, higher conversion rates because of perceived value, it’s easier to get publicity, people are more likely to seek you out rather than you having to seek others out, joint ventures come easier, etc… experts in most cases simply make more money and attract more attention.

Most Bloggers Are Reporters

The thing with expertise is that it requires something - experience. No person becomes an expert without doing things and learning. Bloggers usually start out without expertise and as a result begin their blogging journey by talking about everything going on in their niche (reporting) and by interviewing and talking about other experts (reporting again).

There’s nothing wrong with reporting of course and for many people it’s a necessity at first until you build up some expertise. Unfortunately the ratios are pretty skewed when it comes to reporters and experts - there are a lot more reporters than there are experts, hence reporters tend to struggle to gain attention and when they do, they often just enhance the reputation of the expert they are reporting on.

Don’t Replicate Your Teacher

If you have ever spent some time browsing products in the learn Internet marketing niche you will notice a pattern. Many people first study Internet marketing from a “guru” (for lack of a better term). The guru teaches how he or she is able to make money online, and very often the view that the student gleams is that in order to make money online you have to teach others how to make money online.

The end result of this process is a huge army of amateurs attempting to replicate what their teacher does in the same industry - the Internet marketing industry - not realizing that without expert status based on a proven record and all the perks that come with it, it’s next to impossible to
