Google Adds Themes To Gmail

Google released the newest feature added to Gmail, Themes. Google allows you to customize the look and feel to enhance your email experience.  You may have received the notification along the top of your web browser.

Themes can be selected under the Tab section in Settings.

Some themes are customized by location. Depending on the theme you select, it will change according to your local weather.

Some users might not be able to add themes to your gmail yet. If that’s the case, just sit tight for the update.

How to Backup Your iPhone 3G Contacts With iTunes on Windows XP

Updated with Video:

Click the video to open youtube and watch it in HD

The contact list is the most important piece of data on your phone. The music comes second to that since you can easily sync it back but by default the contacts are not backed up by iTunes. To perform these tasks you will need these requirements:

  • Windows Address Book
  • Latest version of iTunes
Syncing your contacts is a really easy once you see the option. You can sync it to Windows Address Book, Outlook or even Google Contacts. We will use Windows Address Book to backup your contacts since it is the safest method.

Windows Address Book

In order for iTunes to backup your contacts, we will need an application on Windows XP to hold that data. iTunes currently does not hold any contact data. Fortunately, Windows comes with a built in program called the Address Book. To get to it:
  1. Click on Start
  2. Click on All Programs
  3. Move your mouse over Accessories
  4. Click on Address Book
Make sure you make it your default to handle contacts. Now we move on to iTunes to backup your contacts.

iTunes Contacts Backup

Connect your iPhone to your computer and select your iPhone when it appears in iTunes. You’ll be presented with the iPhone summary but we’re more interested in the Info tab.
  1. Click on the Info tab
  2. Click OK on the warning message about Microsoft Office Outlook, we do not need to be worried with that.

  1. Scroll down a little until you fully see the Contacts section.
  2. Check the box to ‘Sync Contacts With:’ and select ‘Windows Address Book’

  1. Select the radio button for ‘All Contacts’
  2. Click on Sync
Your contacts will now be populated in the Windows Address book and you’ll have everything backed up which will include their phone numbers and email addresses. Unfortunately, the pictures for your contacts will not be included.

3 Essential Programs To Remove Malware

I’d say that the average person spends roughly 5+ hours a week on the Internet. That’s a lot of web browsing which may also mean a lot of spyware and malware. These are the annoying, explicit pop ups we see from time to time that is nearly impossible to remove. There are millions of webpages with attached malware that infects millions of computers out there. I’m not sure where and why these people do this but everyone has it. There is even malware that tracks your Internet usage.

To keep your computer free of these pests I recommend three free programs that help maintain your computer and keep annoying pop ups away. Best practice is to run all three programs seperately at least once or twice a week.

Lavasoft Adaware

Spybot Search and Destroy

CCleaner

Adaware and Spybot are very similar programs in which they remove malware. It is good to have at least two different malware removal programs because it is very possible that one program may miss one thing that the other will catch.

CCleaner is another free program that helps optimize your computer and keep your data private. It will clean out cookies, browser history, cache and temporary files for all your web browsers. Also, CCleaner performs registry fixes on the fly.

I use all three programs on a weekly basis and could not be any happier. My computer is malware-free and surfing has been a breeze. Be sure to run these programs regularly and let me know how they work out for you.
