I’ve had a motherload of technical issues over the course of a whole week. Many of which have resulted in failed hardware or Microsoft technology hickups. No one is never happy when unrelated, problematic events occur one right after the other and one never gets the right amount of sleep until the dragon has been slayed and blood is spilled.
One aspect of of Microsoft that seems to be a cloud of WTF is distributed file system.
Why in the world would Microsoft not upgrade you from the previous FRS to DFS when you’ve clearly selected DFS in the Windows R2 upgrade. No clue. Just the little things that should work but don’t.
Now after all the other problems have been resolved its often times recommended you run a full backup to maintain the holy data that feeds the organization. But when your backups refuse to cooperate then all hell breaks loose.
I’m on a love-hate relationship with Backup Exec. We’re running the latest version with all the updates but come on Symantec! When I use the menu options to push out the new agents to my servers can you at least make it work? Resorting to a manual install of a Backup Exec agent is not the best way to run things. And on top of that you spit out errors after your failed attempt at backing up anything.
This is all after I’ve updated all the drivers and firmware and now everything is slowly picking up. It may be smooth sailing from here but there will always be another storm beyond the horizon.
